Achievements

Department of wood science research and its products

Among the diverse achievements of the department, it is possible to carry out 232 research projects, the results of which have been published in the form of reports, articles presented in the scientific research quarterly of the institute and other prestigious domestic and foreign scientific research journals, as well as domestic and foreign scientific conferences. It is also possible to mention the projects that have been implemented at the request of industrial and executive units in the direction of revealing unknowns or solving production problems, and the results of the research have been presented to those units and positive feedback has been received. It should be noted that this trend will be followed in the future.

The main topics on which the research projects of this department were implemented are as follows.

– Investigating the wood engineering characteristics of some important commercial species of Iran

– The effect of ecological factors on wood acidity

– Preparation of kiln drying program for some of Iran’s important commercial woods

– Production of particle board and semi-heavy fiber board using the wood of fast-growing trees and non-woody lignocellulosic raw materials

– Production of high yield pulp from fir wood planted in adaptation plans

– Production of multi-layer boards and multi-layer coated timber

– Investigating the properties of semi-heavy fiberboard using broadleaf wood species in northern Iran

– Mathematical modeling of the effect of production variables on heat transfer during hot pressing of chipboard

– Production of wood polymer composite using gamma rays

– Investigating the properties of pulp and paper produced with waste lignocellulosic materials and industrial factories

– Investigating the properties of pulp and paper produced using the wood of Tandarshd trees and the stems of industrial plants

– Bio composites produced with natural fibers and waste sources.

– Basic projects regarding wood anatomy of forest and fast-growing tree species as well as non-wood cellulose sources in Iran

Publications

Since the publication of research results is an important part of achieving their results, one of the primary goals of the wood and paper science research department of the Forest and Range Research Institute was to establish a scientific and specialized journal in the field of wood and paper science and technology. A publication that plays a role as a communication bridge between different research and industrial sectors of the country by including the latest news and information and scientific achievements. This magazine is now printed and published in order to realize various plans and projects in the field of science and technology development of wood and paper in the country.

At present, this journal has been recognized as a reliable journal with 27 years of publishing and publishing about 808 scientific articles. Specialists, researchers, industries, university professors, university libraries, various organizations and institutions are among the recipients of this publication.

The research department of wood science and its products has implemented dozens of research projects in line with the institute’s priority in the use of wood obtained from hardwood species and waste sources to replace the wood of forest trees for the production of wood and paper products, the results of which are in the final reports and in the form of The article is available in the scientific-research journal of the department.

Interaction with the country’s universities

One of the policies of the group is to use the potential of students and graduates of different universities in the country in the form of internships and postdoctoral positions in conducting targeted and industry-oriented research. Currently, various projects and researches are being implemented in the fields of multi-structure products, pulp and paper, wood preservation and modification, wood anatomy, etc., in the aforementioned format, all of which have been selected based on the needs of industries and through field investigation.

On the other hand, considering the high speed of technological progress and the high volume of information dissemination in various scientific-industrial fields, the up-to-dateness of information and especially equipment is an effective and fundamental step in conducting targeted research. One of the most important ways to achieve this goal is the conclusion of twinning agreements of the wood research department with some important and capable institutions in the world such as the University of Hamburg, which makes the institution have faster access to information and up-to-date issues in the field of wood and paper, as well as this It provides the possibility to cooperate with the industries of these countries in the near future in the form of projects such as examining obstacles and removing them, research and development, as well as producing new products based on the needs of the market and society.
