Achievements

Wood and its products science research department Among the various achievements of the department, we can mention the completion of 232 research projects, the results of which have been published in the form of reports, articles in the Institute’s quarterly scientific research journal and other reputable domestic and foreign scientific research journals, as well as domestic and foreign scientific conferences. We can also mention the projects that have been commissioned by industrial and executive units to reveal unknowns or solve production problems, and the research results have been presented to those units and positive feedback has been received. It is worth .noting that this trend will be continued in the future .The main topics on which the research projects of this department were implemented are as follows Study of the wood engineering properties of some important commercial species in Iran – The effect of ecological factors on wood acidity – Preparing a kiln drying program for some of Iran’s important commercial woods – Production of particleboard and semi-heavy fiberboard using fast-growing wood and non-wood lignocellulosic raw materials – High-yield pulp production from poplar wood planted in adaptation schemes – Production of plywood and veneered plywood – Investigating the properties of semi-heavy fiberboard using broadleaf wood species from northern Iran – Mathematical modeling of the effect of production variables on heat transfer during hot pressing of particleboard – Production of wood polymer composite using gamma rays – Investigating the properties of pulp and paper produced from waste lignocellulosic materials and industrial plants – Investigating the properties of pulp and paper produced using the wood of Thunberg trees and the stems of industrial plants – .Bio-composites produced with natural fibers and waste resources – Basic projects on the wood anatomy of forest and fast-growing tree species as well as non-wood cellulose resources in Iran – Publications Since publishing research results is an important part of achieving them, one of the primary goals of the Wood and Paper Sciences Research Department of the Forest and Rangeland Research Institute was to establish a scientific and specialized journal in the field of wood and paper sciences and technology. A journal that, by including the latest news, information, and scientific achievements, will serve as a bridge between the various research and industrial sectors of the country. This journal is currently being printed and published in order to realize various programs and plans in the field of developing wood and paper .sciences and technology in the country currently, this journal is recognized as a reputable journal with 27 years of publication history and approximately 808 scientific articles. Specialists, .researchers, the industrial sector, university professors, university libraries, various organizations and institutions are among the recipients of this journal The Wood Science and Products Research Department, in line with the institute’s priority of using wood from deciduous species and waste sources as an alternative to forest wood for the production of wood and paper products, has implemented dozens of research projects, the results of which are available in .final reports and as articles in the department’s scientific-research journal Interaction with universities in the country One of the policies of the group is to utilize the potential of students and graduates of various universities in the country in the form of internships and postdoctoral positions in conducting targeted and industry-oriented research. Currently, various projects and research in the fields of composite products, pulp and paper, wood conservation and modification, wood anatomy, etc. are being implemented in the above-mentioned format, all of which have been .selected based on the needs of industries and through field surveys On the other hand, given the rapid pace of technological progress and the large volume of information dissemination in various scientific and industrial fields, keeping information up-to-date, especially equipment, is an effective and fundamental step in conducting targeted research. One of the most important ways to achieve this is to conclude sisterhood agreements between the Wood Research Department and some important and capable institutions worldwide, such as the University of Hamburg, which will provide the institute with faster access to up-to-date information and issues in the field of wood and paper, and will also provide the opportunity to cooperate with the industries of these countries in the near future in the form of projects such as examining and removing .obstacles, research and development, and also producing new products based on the needs of the market and society Other services Holding educational and practical workshops and seminars for various organizations and bodies, as well as manufacturers Conducting educational tours for schools and organizations with training in various fields (papermaking, wood anatomy, wood identification, manufacturing of particleboard and MDF composite boards, wood drying, wood preservation and modification, etc.) Providing the possibility of using laboratory and pilot equipment of the wood research department for students, researchers, and industries, as well as providing solutions and advice to them.
