As a vast country, Iran has a particular condition in terms of its geographical situation, Climate and Topography. Therefore, it shows high diversity and a wide variety of Flowering and non-flowering plant species. Biodiversity conservation and Plant species identification need accurate and reliable knowledge of vegetation coverage. Due to this attitude, the National Botanical Garden of Iran was established in 1968 and continued its activities in the Research Institute of Botany. 1979, it merged with the Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands as a distinct botanical research department.
